Pre-requisite: Orton Gillingham Training

As an Orton Gillingham teacher, you know firsthand how hard it is to both learn the Orton Gillingham approach and then teach using the approach with fidelity.

Many people enroll in an Orton Gillingham course, thinking it is a walk in the park to earn a couple of professional development hours and learn quickly. It is not for the faint of heart. The training is equivalent to a graduate-level university course. Learning the phonemes, morphemes, rules, and patterns that govern the English language is not an easy undertaking.

Post-training, many teachers feel intimidated by delivering Orton Gillingham lessons to their students. This self-coaching webinar was created with the Orton Gillingham teacher in mind. Having a little extra scaffolding at the beginning helps the Orton Gillingham teacher begin implementing the Orton Gillingham lessons with confidence.

Whether you are a classroom teacher, reading specialist, private tutor, or homeschool parent, this webinar is designed to empower you with strategies to reflect, adjust, and deliver your OG lessons with confidence and fidelity.

We’ll explore three coaching touchpoints:
      1.    Pre-conferencing – preparing with purpose
      2.    Mid-lesson self-checks – staying on track with fidelity
      3.    Post-conferencing – reflecting and improving for next time

Orton-Gillingham is a powerful, evidence-based approach. But it is only effective when delivered with fidelity.
As Orton Gillingham educators, we wear many hats: instructor, planner, data collector, and yes, coach.

Self-coaching keeps us:
      •     Aligned with the structured, sequential OG format
      •     Aware of our delivery in real time
      •     Intentional about continuous improvement

So, think of this as building a reflective routine that supports teaching and students’ growth.
